Traditional Ashtanga Yoga classes in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city taught by Yan Ong & Manuel Ferreira, both authorised teachers of the Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI). Ashtanga Yoga is the yoga of 8 limbs & one of the few existing yoga traditions kept alive by a strict lineage of teachings passed down thru history.
Mysore Room classes teaches Ashtanga Yoga as it is taught in the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India and both teachers are direct disciples of the Jois family. All teachings within Mysore Room are dedicated to Sharath Jois, KPJAYI and the late Guruji in humble pursuit to preserve and carry forth teaching this lineage of yoga in its purest form.
Yan spent 4 years living in Mysore, India dedicated to practicing and studying at the Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute under the guidance of its director, R Sharath Jois. He blessed her with permission to teach the method in its purest form, with an official Authorisation by KPJAYI. Before starting her own dedicated traditional Ashtanga Yoga program Yan taught Ashtanga Yoga classes and workshops in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Japan, Malaysia & Philippines.

Manuel has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in its purest form for 11 years, of which internationally for the past 5 years. He annually returns to Mysore, India since 2004 to study at the Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute where he learned from the late Sri K Pattabhi Jois and R Sharath Jois. *** Led class is on the last Friday of every month from 6:45am to 8:15am, please arrive 10min before the start of the class. If it's a moon day then the led class will be on the Thursday before.
Classes at Mysore Room are of 2 types, Mysore-style & Led classes.
Mysore style classes are for ALL LEVELS. From the complete yoga newbie to the seasoned practitioner.
The teacher will work with you on an individual basis at your own pace to build an independent self practice from ground up. Classes are open 3 hour sessions, however you are only in the class for the duration of your practice, for example beginners are expected to be in the room no longer than 45 mins and overtime will increase up to 1 to 2hrs.
Mysore class is an open format class, please arrive no later than an hour before class time finish.
Led classes are for more seasoned Ashtanga yoga practitioners whom have been coming to Mysore style classes regularly. Led classes are counted in traditional Sanskrit for a synchronised group practice of the sequence. It is not a beginner class and not for those who do not know the sequence. We will let you know if you are suitable for this class. Led class is on the last Friday of every month from 6:45am to 8:15am, please arrive 10min before the start of the class. If it's a moon day then the led class will be on the Thursday before.
