Traditional Ashtanga Yoga classes in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city taught by Yan Ong & Manuel Ferreira, both authorised teachers of the Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI). Ashtanga Yoga is the yoga of 8 limbs & one of the few existing yoga traditions kept alive by a strict lineage of teachings passed down thru history.
Yan and Manuel have each dedicated over the past decade of their lives to the teachings of Ashtanga Yoga. Until further notice all our class are taught ONLINE via zoom.
While travelling to KL to visit my sister, I had an opportunity to join the Ashtanga beginners course with Yan and Manuel at their Shala. I have been practising for a short while and I was really impressed to learn from them about the discipline of Ashtanga Yoga both in practice and theory. The Shala is very serene and well set up. Both Yan and Manuel are very practical in their teaching. I like their simple one on one instruction. They are well-respected teachers and I thank them both in helping me to integrate something valuable into my daily practice. I am looking forward to coming back soon.

Mysore Room is one of the best place in the World to practice ashtanga. The atmosphere of the place is very authentic and positive. Minimalist style, impeccable Cleanliness, modern design and absence of the crowd helped to move my practice forward. Yan and Manuel are very beautiful, sincere professional ashtangis, who absolutely love what they do and give themselves fully and totally with joy, support, encouragement, full understanding of the humans body, knowledge of the method and patience. They believe in you and expect you to succeed. Go and see yourself what magical things ashtanga holds for you to be found there. Yan and Manuel, thank you for your caring and for all your help with my practice! I loved your Private classes. I enjoyed very much Mysore style regular classes. I am looking forward to see you next year! Love and Blessings.

I stayed some days in KL for a business trip and fortunately I had the chance to practice several times at Mysore Room. Whenever you come to KL you must not miss this outstanding shala. It is located in KLCC and easy to access. The shala is small but it's a pleasure to practice there. The interior is very nice and you really will enjoy it. Yan and Manuel are excellent teachers. They let you do your practice but will assist whenever you need. You always feel warmly welcome. If you do not have a reason to come to KL yet, Mysore Room is one.

I thoroughly recommend Mysore Room to anyone wanting to learn Ashtanga Yoga, or any seasoned Astanga practitioner looking to deepen their practice. Yan and Manuel are wonderful teachers, they are very professional, dedicated and sensitive in their adjustments. They are truly committed to the ancient traditions and teachings of Ashtanga Yoga, yet they are also incredibly friendly, welcoming and judgement free. Mysore room is a such a beautiful and peaceful shala - a perfect place to practise.

This is to me has been the best and most inspiring place I have ever had the privilege of practising. It is extremely special and you wouldn’t be in better hands than with Yan and Miguel who are unique and truly amazing. I really can’t say anything but good things; my view on practising has completely changed and when I slipped my disc, they dedicated time with me so I could actually still practice. Unfortunately, I have now left KL but I have been able to take what I have learnt into daily practice that I can do at home whilst I find a new place to practice. If you are in any doubt, go for a class, they’re amazing! Thank you!

Despite doing yoga for many years, I have never been so committed to daily practices until I was introduced to ashtanga mysore method for the first time by Yan and Manuel in this beautiful shala in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Being an out of town student, I didn’t know how it could work initially as I can only attend classes when I am in town once in a while but Yan and Manuel welcome me to their shala and patiently help me to develop my asanas so that I can build a sustainable home practice. I really look forward to practice in this sacred space created by Yan and Manuel which is filled with so much positive energy, and their spot on adjustment which makes the impossible possible. Everytime I have to go, I literally leave a piece of my heart here.

Yan and Manuel are great teachers and balance each other wonderfully. They focus on yoga and leave gimmicks aside (where they belong). Whoever in KL has a true interest in yoga should go to the Mysore Room. Most legit place in town.

When I met Yan and Manuel a few months ago, I was recovering from a yoga injury. What I needed the most at this time was to practice in a safe environment without being pushed beyond my boundaries. Mysore Room gave me that and more. Yan and Manuel have a light and gentle touch in their adjustments which reflects their personality as well. They definetely helped me to regain my confidence and trust in the practice by providing a safe, pain-free and peaceful environment.

Visiting KL over the past few months I’ve had the real pleasure of being introduced to Ashtanga Yoga by Yan and Manuel at their Mysore Rooms studio. As a middle-aged woman coming from a Hatha Yoga background this has been quite step up. However, the individual tuition and advice I’ve received from Yan and Manuel has been excellent in easing me into the Ashtanga routines and allowed me to quickly make real progress. The environment in Mysore Rooms is really conducive to getting maximum enjoyment from ones efforts, with experienced and novice Ashtanga practitioners serenely working through their routines. I have to say a very big thanks to Yan and Manuel for the wonderful welcome and attention they’ve given me. They are a couple of purists who are very dedicated to their yoga. I’m really looking forward to getting back in May.

The only place in Malaysia where you can find not one but two of the greatest KPJAYI authorized level 2 teachers that hold a sacred place to teach traditional ashtanga yoga in Mysore style. Thank you to our teachers Yan and Manuel for the endless patience and compassion in teaching and guiding us to build a lifelong practice that is beneficial to us both on and off the mat.

Although I started exploring yoga 8 years ago, I must admit I never truly understood it - it was all about spending an hour in class getting into Asanas. It was not until I discovered Mysore Room and met Yan and Manuel, two wonderful KPJAYI Level 2 gurus (how blessed we are to have them both at the same place!), that it finally dawned on me the practice of yoga is more than a good sweat, stretch and Instagram-able photos. It has been a humbling journey - one of self rediscovery, and exploring new boundaries both physically and mentally. It does not matter if you have years of yoga practice or if you are a complete beginner, Mysore Room is the place for you - the teachers motivate, encourage, guide and help you grow in your own time. Thank you Yan and Manuel, for being the guiding light in my Ashtanga journey, and for all the lessons I’ve learnt from you, both on and off the mat!

Being a complete beginner in yoga, both of my teachers, Yan and Manuel have been very patiently teaching me the sequence and helped me to develop a mysore practice from zero to what I am practising today. They have taught me to understand that yoga is so much more than just physical asana. Through the daily practice of ashtanga yoga, I have learnt to be discipline and determined in life especially when comes to dealing with things that are out of my comfort zone, I just have to step up on my mat although there are days that I want to give up. Mysore Room KL is very suitable and personalize for all levels from beginner to experienced practitioner. This is the shala for anyone that wants to start their yoga practice under authorized KPJAYI level 2 teachers, Yan and Manuel.

I’ve been practising ashtanga only since Jan this year but I have grown a lot stronger and more confident in my practise. I have learnt a lot about patience along the way too! Yan & Manuel are one of the nicest and kindest teachers I have ever met and truly reflect the yogi way of living by not pushing us into any asanas we’re not ready. They are very attentive when we practise on our own and always there for us should we need help. They can be quite humorous too at times and that’s kinda good! Of course the yogis there are just as amazing and we have now even form our own click haha! If you have always wanted to know more about ashtanga yoga this would be the ONLY place you come to!

It’s shala in its purest form ... beautiful place n beautiful people You not only learn yoga but so much more. I have read somewhere that yoga pose is not the goal but the goal is to create space from where you are struck and the goal of yoga is to love yourself. That’s what I experienced here. Yan and Manuel changed my beliefs and thought process for the better. Ever grateful to have found this lovely place and to have practiced under the guidance of teachers here.

I started practising Ashtanga under the guidance of Yan and Manuel back in 2017. They are both really super awesome human being. They are very gentle and totally understand the limitations of each individual. When i became pregnant i continued practising at their shale every morning right up to few days before delivery. Practicing yoga while pregnant is safe and i did not suffer from any backaches or water retention or any common pregnancy woes. It is all the dedication to practising ashtanga and both of them helped me a lot during my journey. It does not matter even if you are beginner beginner in yoga. They are patient and will guide you step by step. If you are interested in yoga please do not think twice to join this yoga school. You will not regret it.

First of all, I would like to thanks to Yan and Manuel who bring back the Authentic Mysore practice to Malaysia. Feel grateful to have the KPJAYI authorized teacher in the house. I agreed with all the below 5 stars review on their experienced teaching in asana practice. Besides that they always remind and relate us back to the Ashtanga Yoga, the Eight limbs. So this is "Parampara" (I have learned this word from Sharath's book), which means a direct and unbroken transmission of knowledge from a teacher to his/her students. Thank you and appreciate your dedication to the lineage. Once again, glad to have Mysore Room KL. Namaste.

To anyone who's considering Ashtanga yoga... do it, and do it here! The way yoga is taught here is something you have to experience to understand. You'll find every level of practitioner, from complete newbies to seasoned veterans with 10+ years of experience. It works because this is a self-practice method. Classes don't follow the follow-the-leader format that's typical of modern yoga classes. Instead, everyone gets on their mat and works through their personalized practice at their own speed. The teachers move around the room providing guidance, sometimes in words and often as physical adjustments to your body. Their many years of experience have made them experts at this; in just a few sessions you'll feel muscles in your body that you never knew existed start to wake up and join the party. Yan and Manuel are incredible people who share their teaching with all of their hearts. Getting to practice at Mysore Room has been my single favorite thing about living in KL... I'm going to miss you guys so much when I leave. Thank you for everything!!

I have been learning Ashtanga Yoga about a year ago . Being a newbie and for someone like me who started learning Yoga in such an old age , I found that it is not easy to stretch my old bone and muscle. However I have found a very dedicated and committed teachers in Yan and Manuel who has demonstrated their patience and dedication in teaching me not only in physical form but the theory about Ashtanga Yoga They have provided a very personal one to one training and teaching in Yoga. By learning Ashtanga Yoga , I have discovered that Ashtanga Yoga is indeed meditation in motion whereby it is not only an exercise of the physical body but and exercise of the mind and a form of meditation . It feeds very well for person like me who also practices meditation regularly. After every session in Ashtanga Yoga, I always felt my mind very peaceful and all my office stress will be relieved
